I think one of my favorite guilty pleasures has got to be jalapeño poppers. It’s been a while since I’ve had them, since cream cheese + Kerri = anaphylaxis. But all that has changed thanks to dairy-free cream cheese. I kinda want to add the people over at Tofutti to my Christmas card list and thank them for making such a tasty, spot-on version.
Back to the matter at hand – I love jalapeño poppers, but I also LOVE pimento cheese spread so I thought, “Why not combine BOTH into one, super yummy dip?!” I think I’m adapting well to living in the South 🙂
Since I can only have mozzarella, I’m using just that in this recipe, but if you don’t have any dairy allergies, add one cup of shredded cheddar cheese along with one cup of mozzarella.
This recipe is versatile and can be served as a dip with chips or crackers, spread on burgers, or on pulled pork sandwiches. (Which is exactly how we ate ours last night, complete with homemade red onion jam and this wonderful, fresh slaw I whipped up – that post is coming up soon!)
It’s got the right ratio of spice to cheese and literally melts in your mouth. It is so, so good, y’all.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your jalapeño popper pimento cheese spread tonight:

- 1/2 tsp Hungarian paprika
- 1/2 tsp regular paprika
- 1.5 TBSP onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 2 TBSP pickled jalapeños, diced
- 4 oz. pimentos, drained
- 8 oz. dairy free cream cheese, softened (or regular if you don't have dietary restrictions)
- 2 c shredded low-moisture mozzarella (or 1 cup mozzarella and 1 cup cheddar if you don't have a dairy allergy)
- 1/2 c mayo
- 1 green onion, sliced for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl mix together all of the ingredients until well blended.
- Top with green onions and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Enjoy as a dip, or on your favorite burgers or sandwiches!
